Valentines Booze Blog

February 13, 2017

Celebrating another blissful year together? Toasting a pointless Hallmark holiday with your BFF? Watching Bridget Jones in your pants moping over another idiot?...

Who cares? The only thing that matters is having a decent bottle to do it with. So, I've been on the hunt for the best deals, so you don't have to (I'm nice like that) I've pulled together a list of supermarket, independent and local offers for everyone to enjoy. Some include food, some are just booze, a range of prices to suit all budgets.

Bakerie

Northern Quarter, Manchester

Have a valentine's day deal on 2 sharing boards, 2 glasses of prosecco and a sweet board to share for £32. You have the option to upgrade to the bottle for just £40! I know I'd be upgrading.

Veeno

Brazennose Street, Manchester

Veeno are doing an offer on Prosecco and strawberries, not just any Prosecco either - the skinny stuff! Anyone still embracing the new year new me mantra should be booking in here.

A bottle of Thomson & Scott Skinny Prosecco (£26) comes with a complimentary platter of strawberries. the offer is valid between Monday 13th February & Sunday 19th February. Get booking!

Reserve Wines

West Didsbury / Altrincham

I love this place and it's my local, they have a Dolci Coline Prosecco and Francesc Ricart Cava at £10 or 2 for £18. Which personally I think is a bargain... who only has one bottle anyway?

If you're pushing the boat out (and why wouldn't you be?) they have the halves of Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé, THE Valentines Pink Champers of choice: £35.99 or 2 for £67, save £5.

Evuna

Northern Quarter, Manchester

These guys have got a Valentines menu on, 5 courses, all matched with wine and cheese paired with sherry for dessert at £40 per person.

Salut wines

Cooper Street, Manchester

Are celebrating valentines with three 50ml tastings of Champagne from Pol Roger, only at Salut Wines. They've got a special Valentine’s Day platter to go with it and they're open until 11pm instead of 6.30pm. The wines are Pol Roger Brut 2006, Blanc de Blanc 2008 and last (but not least) Pol Roger’s Winston Churchill 2004.

This will set you back £30 and you can book a table by giving them a call or online

They've also got 10% of all Champagnes up to £100, all day on the 14th of Feb, if you fancy splashing some more cash.

RosyLee

Northern Quarter, Manchester

On Valentine's day RosyLee and The Fitzgerald have put together a 3-course meal in RosyLee followed by cocktails and jazz at the Fitz for £35pp.  They're also chucking in Prosecco on arrival, you'll need to call up to book a table.

Supermarket Deals

For those of us on a budget (and who's pay day falls on the 15th - ouch!) or who prefer to stay in than venture out for V day. The big boys are all boasting similar deals really, two people = £20 which is certainly not to be sniffed at.

M&S

Valentines dine in for two for £20 gets you a starter, main, side, dessert, wine or prosecco and chocolates for two.

Tesco

2 mains, 2 sides, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine or chocolates for just £20. The only downside here is you have to choose between chocolate and wine, a choice I simply refuse to make in life.

Waitrose

Another dine in for two for £20, this one is three courses and a bottle of wine or fizz.

Aldi

Now these guys are doing something different, they've gone for a Cupid's Collection, a case of 6 bottles of wine for under £30! Madness. There's also a personal favourite pink fizzy number in there I can vouch for.

Clearly this is not all that is on offer for Valentine's but get in touch if you have something totes amazeballs which you would like to me include on weightsnwine@outlook.com. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

Big love you romantics you x
